Ismet Siral. A sui generis personality not only through his being a wise musician having an authentic approach towards music but also through his character, his philosophy and his way of living. He is an "anonymous soul" which deeply affected almost everyone having the chance to know him thoroughly and became a part of their existence. It is possible to follow his traces in Turkish music circle not only in jazz but also within a wide angle ranging from rock to arabesk*, from pop to traditional music. His view of music is a wide one, making no distinction between highbrow and lowbrow, that is a view without any bias, without any underestimation.

He is a natural troubadour blowing out reed flute with Aka Gunduz traveling to the "utmost" in the land of music, accompanying frogs with his flute, tuning his sax with the voice of the owls. Reaching and voicing the meaning of the "moment" is the crucial for him, that is perhaps why he didn't leave anything written like most troubadours.

It is not possible for anyone to cover his broad vision within a few sentences. Perhaps this is one of the reasons why there is almost no work done about him that would pass the values he represented to our recent generation, not even a short biography in any cyber or published media. We dearly wish that this website will create a medium of communication for those who have a word on him, who would ask something about him or share some info and documents on him. We are hoping for and looking forward to seeing works to be created worth his deep trace with the background that would be acquired here.

*Arabesk: An originally underground blend of Turkish and Arabian music emerged from the rural suburbs of Turkey in the early seventies.
